Creating a future with sustainability in mind is embedded in who we are and where we want to be. Our Environmental, Social and Governance framework is governed by an independent board and experienced senior leadership team. We are committed to reduce impact on the environment across our business and support our teams and communities in doing so.
Environmental
We believe climate change needs to be tackled with urgency and we fully back the UK Government’s target to become zero-carbon by 2050. As a result, we’re doing more to protect our environment.
- Fibre has been shown to use 20-30% less energy than traditional copper-based networks.
- We use green energy suppliers where possible for both our network and our office locations Often, they include initiatives for reducing grid electric use, mains water consumption, printed paper consumption and overall waste reduction
- The Zzoomm teams have adopted hybrid working so we don’t need to travel to be together, reducing our overall carbon footprint
- Every Zzoomm location has access to recycling facilities. Our general waste is handled by local waste management companies, who typically dispose of this with 100% diversion from landfill by creating energy from biomass
- We minimise waste with our supply chain by asking for recyclable materials, less packaging and encouraging re-use of materials where possible
Social
Zzoomm are committed to building a strategic and long term focus on the social elements of our business. From the way we provide a futureproofed infrastucture that helps homes, businesses and communities seamlessly connect, to ensuring our people are treated fairly and with respect. We’re doing all we can to build positive relationships within our business and with the towns we build our network in.

- We know our teams come from different backgrounds and cultures and are of all ages, abilities and genders. We strive to make everyone feel welcome, accepted and able to reach their full potential
- Everyone is different, everyone is welcome. We provide a set of policies and benefits that support physical and mental wellbeing
- We have trained 16 trusted staff members in becoming Mental Health First Aiders to support our mental wellbeing across our UK sites
- We have inclusive policies in place to ensure we act fairly, provide equality and avoid unlawful discrimination in all aspects of employment at Zzoomm
- We have Regional Directors in each region of our network expansion which gives local teams the power to do everything they can from a local hub which means more flexibility and faster, more efficient ways of working.
Governance
Our Chief Executive, Matthew Hare, has ultimate accountability for driving our clear vision of ESG at Zzoomm. We have an experienced Senior Leadership Team who share responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the business, in addition to compliance with Zzoomm policies and regulations to help drive change and a more sustainable future of the industry we’re in.

- We have clear division of responsibilites internally that increase control and mitigate risk
- We report key measures openly and continuously across the business, of which we're externally audited with board level oversight
- We comply with Construction, Management and Design Regulations (CDM) 2015 and with Principal Designer and Principal Contractor obligations
- Personal data is handed with care and in line with Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidelines
- We enforce human rights in our supply chains through contractual conditions that exclude modern slavery, child labour and ensure fair wages and good, safe working conditions for all.

- We enforce compliance with laws and policies by making sure we train our teams via the Zzoomm Academy which is supported by our open culture to learn and grow
- We take a rigorous approach to health and safety, with safe systems of work and policies to ensure all teams stay safe at work
- We have IT systems in place that help our team do a great job every day, whilst remaining compliant
